"Growing up I have always loved art, when I was younger I would always have a pencil and sketchbook in my hand. Portraiture is something I've always had a passion for, sketching friends and family whenever I had the chance."
"My breakthrough came when I began trying to capture a moment, an expression or specific mood in the subject rather than merely representing their form."
After graduating with a BA (Hons) degree in Fashion & Textiles in 2004 Rebecca took a keen interest in fashion illustration. Combining her natural drawing abilities with a keen eye for detail, it was whilst looking for a way to make her fashion illustrations stand out that she began to explore her now distinctive style of portraiture.
Fashion illustration is about providing a vehicle to show off an item of clothing or accessory. Rebecca uses her illustration to tell a story about a very specific moment in the lives of her subjects.
"A human face is so complicated and expressive; a look can say a thousand words. I try to represent this in my work. My portraits are very personal and are tied to the memories of those featured within."
Rebecca is available for commissions. To discuss your portrait please contact Rebecca.
